Kurti before the meeting with Abdixhik: Let’s talk once during the meeting and then we will inform you of the results.

Kurti and Abdixhiku Meet to Discuss Presidential Election

Prishtina, Kosovo – Prime Minister Albin Kurti, chairman of Vetëvendosje Movement, convened with Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) leader VVili Abdixhiku at the Parliament of Kosovo on April 20, 2026, to address the ongoing impasse surrounding the presidential election. With nine days remaining until the scheduled vote, Kurti stated a commitment to a focused discussion. Following the meeting, Kurti indicated he would publicly announce the outcomes.

“We will speak after the meeting. Once during the meeting and then we will inform you of the results,” he affirmed. This marks the second meeting between Kurti and Abdixhiku, occurring in the wake of a recent ruling by the Constitutional Court.

The ruling established April 28th as the definitive deadline for electing a president, as reported by KosovaPress. The discussions center on the process of selecting a new head of state amid significant political division. Both Kurti and Abdixhiku are key figures in the ongoing negotiations, and the public announcement of the meeting’s results will be closely anticipated.

The aim is to determine a path forward before the critical deadline.
