Kosovo CEC Functioning Despite Missing Member, Official Assures
Pristina, Kosovo – The Head of Duty of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has affirmed that the current composition of the Central Election Commission (CEC) does not present a risk to the integrity of the country’s electoral processes. Speaking after a meeting with political party representatives and responding to media inquiries, Haxhiu emphasized the ongoing review of the CEC’s membership. Following questions regarding the absence of one member, Haxhiu clarified that the CEC is currently operating with ten of its eleven designated members.
The outstanding appointment remains a subject of institutional action, aligning with the commission’s constitutional obligations. “I am addressing this issue and will act in accordance with my responsibilities,” Haxhiu stated. “However, be assured that with ten members present, the certification of political parties and election results remains secure.”
The statement comes amidst ongoing discussions surrounding the composition of the CEC.
Institutions are proceeding with their duties while the appointment process continues. The focus remains on ensuring a transparent and compliant electoral environment, according to Haxhiu.
