Vučić’s Jokes Over Weekend: We Were About to Build a Road to Mitrovica, Americans Ensure Kosovo Doesn’t Cause Problems

Vučić Outlines Infrastructure Plans, Highlights US Involvement in Kosovo

Belgrade – Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić discussed ongoing and planned infrastructure projects over the weekend, focusing on initiatives within Kosovo. He detailed ambitions to build a highway extending to Zajrica, with a proposed continuation of several kilometers into the territory of Kosovo. Vučić stated that Serbia is undertaking full financial responsibility for the project, committing to an investment of 45 kilometers to reach Mitrovica.

He emphasized that Serbia will cover the entirety of the costs. The President indicated a key element of the strategy involves securing assurances from the United States regarding stability. According to Vučić, the US requires confirmation that Kosovo will not impede the project’s progress.

“We are ready to pay for the construction,” he stated. “We are paying everything, the full price, just so that the Americans are assured that Pristina does not cause problems.”

The Serbian government’s focus about this ambitious undertaking underscores its continued engagement with infrastructure development in the region. The project’s success, according to Vučić, hinges on maintaining a cooperative environment to ensure uninterrupted progress.
