CEC Sets Deadline for Political Parties to Declare Participation in June Elections

PRISHTINA – The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo has issued a formal deadline for all registered political parties to confirm their intention to participate in the upcoming snap elections scheduled for June 7, 2026. All 53 currently active political parties within Kosovo have been directed to notify the CEC of their participation, either independently or as part of a coalition. According to CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi, this notification requirement applies exclusively to the parties already registered with the institution.

Elezi explained to KosovaPress that the deadline for submissions is May 7, 2026. The CEC’s action aims to clarify the landscape of the forthcoming elections and determine the potential composition of future governing coalitions. The move underscores the importance of timely information for the electoral process.

The deadline highlights the need for political parties to clearly communicate their strategy regarding the June 7th elections. The CEC will utilize these responses to facilitate the organization and administration of the political process.
