Kosovo Commemorates 27th Anniversary of Bukosh Massacre

Pristina, Kosovo – Deputy Head of State Albulena Haxhiu and acting Minister of Labor, Family and Freedom of Action Values, Andin Hoti, participated in a ceremony marking the 27th anniversary of the Bukosh massacre. The event honored the 25 civilians killed during the conflict in 1996. During the commemoration, Haxhiu detailed the circumstances surrounding the killings, stating that the victims were unarmed Albanian civilians forcibly separated from family columns and subsequently executed.

“These individuals were violently removed from their families, while their families were compelled to continue their displacement,” Haxhiu explained. The ceremony focused on the events that transpired at the Bukosh school, where the victims were gathered and ultimately killed. Haxhiu characterized these actions as evidence of serious crimes.

She emphasized that the massacre was not an isolated incident but rather a demonstration of grave violations committed during the war. The commemoration serves as a reminder of the tragic loss of life and the ongoing need to address the historical context of the events surrounding the Bukosh massacre.
