Former PDK Deputy Ferat Shala Announces Non-Participation in Upcoming Elections
Ferat Shala, a former deputy of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), has announced he will not be included on the party’s candidate list for the upcoming elections. The decision, described by Shala as “unavoidable,” follows a period of reflection regarding the need for renewal within the PDK. In a Facebook post, Shala stated that after serving four mandates as a member of the Kosovo Assembly, he has opted not to seek re-election.
“After a long political engagement, specifically four mandates as a deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo, I have decided not to be part of the candidate list of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) in the upcoming elections,” he wrote. Shala emphasized the permanence of his decision, clarifying that it is irreversible and unrelated to any perceived avoidance of political accountability. He indicated that his departure is intended to contribute to a “new breath” within the PDK.
The announcement concludes his time as a PDK deputy after a significant period of service in the Kosovo Assembly.
