The Ministry of Interior has announced a controlled demolition operation scheduled for Monday near the erebino barracks in the Zhelinë village area. The operation will involve the destruction of explosive devices. Starting at 09:00 on March 29th, 2026, MPB and Gendarmerie (Army) teams will conduct this procedure around the erebino barracks, situated within the Zhelinë village.
The purpose is to eliminate a number of explosive weapons, currently in a precarious state. These weapons, specifically mines, are deemed too unstable to be moved to the Krivollakut polygon for destruction. The MPB issued a statement reassuring residents that any sounds of shots or explosions heard in the vicinity during this timeframe are part of the planned, controlled process.
