Petkoviq attacks Kurtini after Kosovo’s institutions took control of the railway stations, calls on Serbs to unite “under one flag”

Petar Petkoviq, the director of the Office for Kosovo within the Serbian government, issued a statement critical of the acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti. The remarks followed actions taken by Kosovo’s institutions to assume control of railway stations in the northern regions. In his address, Petkoviq called for Serbs to unite under a single banner and expressed support for the Serb List.

Petkoviq alleged that Kurti’s political standing and campaign efforts were weakening. He further suggested that the seizure of the railway facility on the first day of the election campaign for the September 7 elections was directly connected to the electoral maneuvering. These comments were made in the context of heightened activity in the north.

Specifically, the acting Minister of Interior, Xhelal Sveçla, along with other officials and the assistance of the Kosovo Police, took control of the railway station in Zveçan, situated near the Trepça complex, where railway tracks had been removed. The statements from Petkoviq highlight the ongoing political tensions surrounding infrastructure control in Kosovo. The rapid assertion of state authority over key assets like the railway stations has prompted political reactions from Belgrade-aligned figures.

Petkoviq’s commentary suggests a direct linkage between these institutional actions in Kosovo and the immediate political climate leading up to upcoming elections.
