Person arrested for evidence tampering following a worker’s death in Peja

A person has been arrested and detained for 48 hours in connection with an investigation into a workplace fatality that occurred in the village of Gllaviqicë in Peja. The individual was detained on suspicion of “Manipulation of evidence” and “Unauthorized possession, control, or custody of weapons.”

The Basic Prosecution in Peja confirmed that the arrest was executed today by the Kosovo Police, following intensive investigative operations coordinated with the Regional Directorate of Investigations in Peja. This case pertains to the death of a worker that took place on April 29, 2026.

Furthermore, investigations are actively proceeding against a relative of the deceased. This individual is being investigated for the criminal act of “Disarming, damaging, or removing protective equipment and endangering safety at the workplace,” as defined under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo. The Prosecution has indicated that further actions will be taken within established legal deadlines to continue the investigation.

The ongoing inquiries aim to establish the full sequence of events leading to the worker’s death and to determine accountability for the alleged criminal acts.
