Airports in North Macedonia show a 31.2% passenger increase for the period January-May 2026

The Skopje International Airport and the Ohrid “Saint Apostle Paul” Airport, both operated by TAV Macedonia—a subsidiary of TAV Airports and a member of the ADP Group—are reporting continued double-digit growth in passenger traffic. Analysis covering the first five months of 2026, from January through May, indicates a significant increase in activity across the key airports in north macedonia. During this period, the two facilities served 1.6 million passengers, representing a 31.2% increase compared to the same five-month period in 2025.

Furthermore, air service expanded considerably, with the number of flights rising by 9.5%, totaling 10,595 services recorded. Complementing TAV Macedonia’s internal statistical review, the Airports Council International for Europe (ACI Europe) released its comprehensive air traffic analysis for April 2026. This broader industry report included data pertaining to the Skopje International Airport and the Ohrid facility.

The consistent upward trend in both passenger numbers and flight frequency underscores robust travel demand within the region. These figures suggest strong operational performance for the aviation infrastructure supporting the country. The data highlights that the two major airports are successfully managing increased capacity utilization while solidifying their position within the Balkan air transport network.

The sustained growth across both metrics points toward a positive trajectory for air travel in macedonia.
