The construction project for Corridor 8 will proceed in the direction of Struga.

The Mayor of Tetovo, Bilall Kasami, addressed concerns regarding Corridor 8 during a conversation on Alsat television. He emphasized the significance of this substantial infrastructure project, confirming its planned route will extend through the municipality of Struga. “There isn’t another pathway for Corridor 8 to traverse; it’s unequivocally going to pass through Struga.”

Kasami clarified the distinction between the technical aspects of the project and its broader strategic importance for the nation.

He highlighted Corridor 8’s role as a vital connection between numerous NATO and European Union nations, positioning North Macedonia as a key component within this pan-European corridor. “To suggest Corridor 8 won’t pass near Struga is demonstrably false information.”

The Mayor attributed the initial misrepresentation to the preceding administration. “This challenge was inherited from the previous government, where the Prime Minister hadn’t indicated Corridor 8 would run adjacent to Struga.” He underscored the corridor’s purpose: to facilitate connections between Albanian residents within North Macedonia and those in Albania.

This crucial project represents a significant investment and strategic link for the country.
