Lebanese President Aoun: Israel can destroy our country, but will not achieve its objectives

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has asserted that while Israel possesses the capacity to occupy and dismantle all Lebanese territory, it will ultimately fail to achieve its stated strategic goals. In a statement, Aoun noted, “They can occupy the whole country, they can raze the whole country, but they will never be able to achieve their objective.”

According to the Lebanese President, Hezbollah represents something beyond mere geography that can be overcome by military action. Aoun characterized the group not as a tangible territorial objective, but rather as an idea deeply embedded within the Lebanese society.

Highlighting the complex dynamics, Aoun emphasized that the conflict is fundamentally a struggle between people, suggesting that “the battlefield is the people.”

Speaking on the proximity to peace between the United States and Iran, Aoun reiterated his point that Hezbollah is not a geographical target. He stressed that the conflict’s nature transcends physical borders. Furthermore, Aoun referenced previous confrontations between the parties to underscore the depth of the issue.

His statements suggest a belief in the resilience of the local populace and the intangible nature of the resistance, even in the face of potential military occupation of the Lebanese country.
