Helicopter suffers defect in both engines – pilot miraculously saves passengers in Montenegro

A rescue mission conducted in the Nemuna Mountains area of Prokletije was complicated by a significant technical failure involving the Ministry of Interior’s Bell 212 helicopter. Initial reports confirmed that the aircraft experienced a critical engine defect during flight operations. Despite the hazardous circumstances presented by the mechanical failure, the pilot was able to maintain operational control of the aircraft.

Sources reported that the pilot successfully executed an emergency landing maneuver, utilizing an autorotation technique. This skilled action brought the helicopter safely to ground near the Guci–Grebajë local road. The operation, which initially involved a search and rescue effort, concluded with the safe recovery of seven individuals.

These rescued personnel included three members of the helicopter crew and four participants from the Mountain Rescue Service. The incident highlights the professionalism of the flight crew, whose quick response and expertise allowed them to manage the severe defect in both engines and ensure the safety of all involved parties.
