A civic protest opposing the proposed luxury resort development in the Zvërnec area of Vlora has entered its twelfth consecutive day. Through continuous mobilization, demonstrators have gathered in the capital to voice strong opposition to the planned investment and to advocate for significant political and legal reforms. The demonstration began with citizens assembling in “Skënderbej” Square, initiating a march along the “Martyrs of the Nation” Boulevard.
Carrying banners and flags, the protesters marched to the building housing the Prime Minister’s Office. During speeches held at the site, organizers and participants emphasized that their movement would not conclude without receiving substantive responses to their core demands. According to the demonstrators gathered in the square, there are five primary and non-negotiable demands guiding the protest.
These include the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the establishment of a Technical Government. Furthermore, the protesters are calling for the repeal of the Law on Protected Areas and the repeal of the Law on Strategic Investments. Finally, they demand the complete cancellation of the project designated as the “Mountain Package.”
This sustained protest highlights deep-seated public dissatisfaction regarding development policies and governance in the region.
The continued presence of the demonstrators underscores their commitment to seeing these specific political and legislative changes implemented.
