German Member of Parliament in the Bundestag calls for the arrest of Radojičić: Still free in Serbia

German Member of Parliament Boris Mijatovic, representing the Green Party, addressed the Bundestag concerning the latest developments in Kosovo. Regarding the recent electoral process, Mijatovic stated that the elections were “free, fair, and incident-free.” Furthermore, he advocated for enhanced international backing for Kosovo’s aspiration to join the Council of Europe. A significant portion of his address focused on regional security dynamics, specifically addressing NATO’s plans to reduce the presence of KFOR troops in the region.

Mijatovic cautioned that apparent calm can mask underlying tensions. To support this warning, the German MP referenced the serious security incident that occurred in Banjska in 2023, highlighting the persistent instability within northern Kosovo. The Bundestag subsequently voted on the continuation of the KFOR mission, with 383 votes in favor and 192 opposed.

Mijatovic emphasized the need for a careful assessment of geopolitical allegiances, asserting, “We must seriously ask who is a friend and who is an enemy, and with what means they operate.” His statements underscore the German parliamentary concern for stability and the sustained security presence in Kosovo. The German MP’s remarks emphasized that while democratic processes appear normal, the underlying security environment requires continuous international monitoring and support for Kosovo’s long-term integration into European structures.
