Bekim Sali, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs, attended the opening of the Skopje Security Forum 2026. The forum, themed “Architects of Stability: The Security Identity of the Western Balkans,” was organized by the University of St. Clement of Ohrid – Manastir and the University of Tetovo.

During his address, Minister Sali stressed that maintaining the security and stability of the region requires ongoing commitment. He argued that these foundational elements cannot be assumed but must be supported by continuous investment across several sectors. Key areas identified for focus include strengthening democratic institutions, upholding the rule of law, fostering economic development, and enhancing regional cooperation.

Minister Sali reiterated that European integration serves as the primary strategic direction for the Republic of North Macedonia. He positioned this integration process as one of the most robust assurances for sustained long-term security, stability, and overall prosperity for the region. His remarks indicated that a secure and stable Western Balkans contributes significantly to broader regional interests.

The participation of Sali at the forum underscored the government’s focus on these structural improvements necessary for lasting peace and development in the area.
