Citizens complain about the increase in mosquitoes and other insects, clarified by the Municipality of Skopje

The City of Skopje has issued a clarification regarding public health measures concerning mosquito control for its citizens. Authorities confirmed that the responsibility for disinfection efforts within the city limits falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Skopje administration. The city reported that over the past two months, preventative measures have been implemented through aerial treatments.

These efforts specifically targeted both mosquito larvae and adult mosquito populations. Furthermore, the municipal notice detailed that in addition to the aerial spraying, preparations are underway for ground-level treatments. These subsequent ground treatments are scheduled to take place in the coming days and will be executed following recommendations provided by relevant health institutions.

This proactive approach aims to mitigate potential public health risks associated with mosquito activity. The consistent application of these treatments, covering both aerial and ground methods, underscores the city’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens. Residents are advised to remain informed regarding the precise scheduling of these supplementary sprays, which are designed to maintain a low level of mosquito presence across the metropolitan area.

The ongoing coordination between the municipal services and health authorities ensures that the necessary measures are taken to manage the mosquito population effectively.
