Protest against Zvërnec on the 22nd, citizens protest in front of the Prime Ministry

The demonstration opposing the proposed investment project in the Zvërnec area continued for its twenty-second day, as citizens gathered in the capital to voice their dissent. The gathering began in Skënderbej Square, with participants subsequently marching along the “National Martyrs” Boulevard. Attendees carried banners and national flags, voicing concerns directed at the government and the political class.

Members of the Albanian diaspora also participated in the protest. According to reports from RTSH’s journalist, a small contingent of demonstrators remained near the Prime Minister’s building overnight. Authorities subsequently requested that the group vacate the streets to ensure the unimpeded flow of vehicle circulation.

Following this request, the protesters regrouped again in Skënderbej Square. The ongoing protest highlights sustained public opposition to the development plans. The gathering of citizens underscores a persistent level of civic engagement regarding the project’s implications for the area.

While the demonstrations have remained concentrated in key public areas, the sustained presence of citizens signals continued concern regarding the investment’s scope and impact. The police presence managed the assembly throughout the day, facilitating the gathering while ensuring public order was maintained.

  1. I hope these ongoing protests lead to a thorough and transparent review of the proposed investment project.
