Norway implements near-ban on the use of AI tools by primary school students

The government of Norway has announced measures restricting the use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools within the educational system. According to the Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, the nation is implementing an almost total ban on these tools for primary school students. Earlier this year, the government also enacted a ban on smartphones within school premises. Additionally, educators have been granted expanded authority to enforce classroom discipline.
