Kosovo citizens mostly trust the USA, NATO, the EU, and even Turkey.

A 2026 annual survey concerning perceptions of the European Union in Kosovo, conducted under the WeBalkans program, revealed significant public interest in European integration. Overall, support for Kosovo’s membership in the EU remains high, with 83% of citizens stating their support for the country’s integration into the bloc. Furthermore, 85% of respondents believe that EU membership would bring more advantages than disadvantages.

The survey provided specific insights into timelines and perceived hurdles. According to the data, half of Kosovar Albanians believe that achieving EU membership could occur within the next five years. Conversely, 30% of the population believe that this goal will never materialize.

Regarding the primary obstacles, 26% of citizens indicated that a lack of political will within Kosovo is the main impediment to integration. These findings underscore the strong desire among the citizenry for closer ties with the European Union. The survey metrics offer a snapshot of how Kosovar citizens view their nation’s future trajectory within the European framework.

The results indicate a general consensus among the populace that European alignment is a desirable and achievable long-term goal, despite varying beliefs regarding the immediacy of that achievement.
