The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Innovation (MINTI), in collaboration with the Kosovo Metrology Agency (AMK) and the Central Market Supervision Inspectorate, has maintained ongoing activities focused on monitoring and verifying electrical meters throughout the Republic of Kosovo. These routine inspections are designed to ensure that electricity consumption is measured accurately and that consumer rights are upheld in compliance with established legal standards. A recent inspection revealed instances of non-compliance, specifically identifying five electrical meters that had expired metrological verification.
As a direct result of this finding, the economic operator KEDS was issued a fine amounting to 25,000 euros. MINTI and AMK have stated that these verification efforts will continue in the coming days. The primary objective of these sustained checks is to guarantee the integrity of the measurement process, thereby protecting consumers from inaccurate billing and ensuring that all commercial entities adhere to national metrology regulations.
The agency emphasized that consistent oversight is necessary to maintain fair trade practices and reliable utility infrastructure across the country. These regulatory actions underscore the commitment of the authorities to maintaining high standards of measurement accuracy within the national market.
