VV accepts consensus president, Nagavci: I cannot say today that we will govern with another party

Arbërie Nagavci, the leader of the Parliamentary Group of the Self-Determination Movement, indicated that her party is willing to engage in discussions regarding a consensual and non-partisan candidate for the presidency. Speaking during the program Debat Plus on RTV Dukagjini, Nagavci clarified the specific scope of her party’s current willingness to cooperate. Nagavci stated that the Self-Determination Movement remains open to negotiating an agreement concerning the identity of the president, asserting that such an agreement could serve to alleviate the current political and institutional deadlock facing the nation.

She stressed that the election of the nation’s president necessitates a foundation of broad political support and cooperation among various stakeholders. While expressing a clear readiness to discuss the presidential nomination, Nagavci was careful to delineate the boundaries of her party’s current negotiating position. Specifically, she emphasized that the group currently cannot commit to or discuss the details of a comprehensive governing agreement with any other political entity at this time.

The statement from Nagavci underscored that while the movement views the consensus around the presidency as a viable path forward, this singular focus on the head of state does not automatically translate into a broader coalition pact. Her comments highlighted that any move toward resolving the institutional impasse must first secure agreement on the presidential figure before broader governmental frameworks can be seriously addressed.
