Bosnia and Herzegovina secured a vital victory against Qatar with a 3-1 win in the final match of Group B of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The team, under the management of Sergej Barbarez, delivered a strong performance, finishing the group stage with four points. Their advancement to the knockout stage will now depend on the outcomes of other groups, where they will compete as one of the best third-placed nations.

The match saw Bosnia take the lead in the 29th minute. Kerim Alajbegović scored the opening goal with a notable effort, successfully slotting the ball into the top corner of the net to give Bosnia a 1-0 advantage. Just five minutes later, Bosnia increased their lead to 2-0 when a deflection by Qatar’s goalkeeper, Mahmoud Abunada, sent the ball into his own net.

Qatar managed to pull one back to make the score 2-1 before the final moments of the game. Despite this, the final result ensured a positive outcome for Bosnia’s hopes of qualification. The final score of 3-1 means that Bosnia remains in contention for qualification, awaiting results from other participating teams to determine their final standing among the best third-placed sides.
