China used a massage gun on the eye – the consequences were catastrophic

A 42-year-old man in Wuhan, China, was recently hospitalized and required surgery after sustaining significant vision impairment from the misuse of a personal electronic device. The man, identified as Luo, initially purchased the equipment, a specialized massage gun, intending to alleviate muscle fatigue following gym workouts. Due to persistent issues with eye fatigue and dryness, he incorrectly extrapolated the device’s use, believing it would offer similar therapeutic benefits to the delicate tissues surrounding the eye.

He began using the massage gun on his eye area for several minutes. While the initial application seemed benign, the effects worsened over the following week, leading to noticeable blurring of his vision. Upon undergoing a comprehensive medical examination, doctors determined that the physical trauma caused by the device’s strong vibrations had resulted in severe complications.

Specifically, Luo was diagnosed with a dislocated eye lens and the development of cataracts. Medical professionals linked these severe ocular issues directly to the physical damage inflicted by the high-frequency vibrations of the massage gun. The incident underscores the potential risks associated with applying powerful vibrational tools to sensitive anatomical areas, particularly the eye.

The case serves as a cautionary example regarding the necessity of adhering strictly to professional medical advice when using personal wellness devices, especially near vital organs.
