Macedonia, eight fires in open areas, three of them active

The Crisis Management Center reported that as of 2:00 PM, a total of eight fires had been registered across various open areas. Of these incidents, three were reported as active, while the remaining four had been successfully extinguished. The current locations of the active blazes were identified in the village of Gari within Dibra, the “Pero Çuço” neighborhood in Kumanovo, and at the Pehçeve depot.

In addition to addressing the immediate incidents, authorities have implemented preventative measures concerning forest access. Beginning January 1st, movement within forested areas will be suspended due to elevated fire risk. This restriction is scheduled to remain in effect through the end of August.

It is important to note that this movement prohibition does not apply to designated national parks or the area of Vodno. For individuals or groups requiring access during this period, alternative arrangements are available. Movement permits can be secured through either the Ministry of Environment and Protected Areas (MPB) or directly from the National Park “National Forests.” These measures are in place to mitigate risks associated with seasonal fire activity, ensuring public safety while environmental monitoring continues.
