Plenary session in Albania, deputies met with protesters’ chants: Your time is up

As the parliamentary session convened for its 10:00 AM plenary meeting, a public demonstration took place outside the Parliament building. Organizers had previously announced the gathering the preceding evening, calling upon citizens to participate in the afternoon’s assembly. Reports indicate that as the deputies gathered for the proceedings, they were met outside the structure by protestors.

Observers noted that the demonstration included chanting from the crowd. Simultaneously, the official business of the day proceeded within the Parliament premises. The agenda for the plenary session was established, focusing on the approval of the minutes from the plenary session held on June 18, 2026, as stipulated under Article 44, point 2, of the Rules of Procedure.

The convergence of the organized protest and the official governmental proceedings created a visible scene at the Parliament. While the deputies conducted their scheduled legislative work inside, the demonstration served as an external focal point for public attention. The organized nature of the protest, which had been called for the day, resulted in a gathering outside the main entrance, drawing media attention to the intersection of political activity and public dissent.
