Bus tickets are being raised in Pristina – this is the new price list

Municipal authorities in Pristina have announced forthcoming adjustments to the cost of single-journey public transport tickets, effective January 1, 2026. The changes reflect a comprehensive effort to modernize the city’s public transit infrastructure through digitalization. Under the new structure, the standard cost for a physical single-journey ticket will increase from 50 cents to 80 cents.

However, the municipality has implemented a tiered pricing system to incentivize the adoption of electronic payment methods. Citizens opting to purchase their tickets through digital kiosks or via SMS services provided by mobile phone operators will benefit from a reduced rate, priced at 60 cents. The Municipality of Pristina stated that these adjustments are directly linked to the ongoing process of digitalizing public transport ticketing.

The primary objective is to encourage the transition from cash transactions to electronic payments, thereby modernizing the overall ticket sales ecosystem. These revised rates apply across various ticket types, including single-journey and daily passes. The differential pricing structure—where digital tickets are significantly cheaper than physical ones—is designed to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

Residents utilizing the digital payment channels will acquire their necessary tickets at a lower cost in cents compared to purchasing physical paper tickets. This initiative aims to ensure that the public transportation system in Pristina operates with a more advanced and sustainable payment framework.
