The EU reaffirms support for Kosovo, calls for acceleration of reforms

Jeton Zulfaj, Kosovo’s Chief Negotiator with the European Union, and Valentina Superti, Director for the Western Balkans at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENES), participated in the 7th meeting of the Stabilization-Association Committee between Kosovo and the European Union in Pristina yesterday. A media statement confirmed that the Committee, which was co-chaired by Arben Krasniqi, Secretary General in the Prime Minister’s Office, and Jiri Plecity, Head of the DG ENES Unit responsible for Kosovo, convened to review significant political developments of the recent period. The discussions focused on assessing the progress made in implementing key political and economic criteria.

Furthermore, participants evaluated the degree of alignment with EU legislation and standards. A core component of the meeting involved reviewing the implementation status of commitments established under the Association Agreement. The meeting provided a platform for both sides to assess the trajectory of the bilateral relationship.

Discussions covered the overall progress toward integration with the European Union framework. By reviewing these various aspects—from political benchmarks to legislative alignment—the Committee aimed to identify areas requiring further attention to advance the normalization process and deepen ties between Kosovo and the European bloc.
