Skënderbeu Airport has integrated advanced security technology following the commissioning of new security scanners and two computed tomography units, representing an investment valued at approximately one million euros. According to TAV’s General Director, Nexhat Kurt, this acquisition positions the airport as the sole facility in the Balkans equipped with this specific technology. This upgrade is expected to significantly enhance passenger security protocols while simultaneously expediting baggage screening procedures.
A key benefit highlighted by Kurt is the elimination of the requirement for passengers to manually remove electronic devices, such as laptops, tablets, and mobile phones, during the screening process. Furthermore, Deputy Minister of Transport, Kaltrina Zekolli-Shaqiri, acknowledged the ongoing modernization efforts, noting that collaboration with TAV has facilitated cumulative investments totaling 50 million euros across various projects. Zekolli-Shaqiri emphasized the critical importance of continuous modernization, reconstruction, and expansion initiatives for the airport.
The introduction of these new security systems marks a substantial step forward in infrastructure enhancement. These technological improvements are designed to maintain high standards of safety and efficiency for travelers utilizing the facility. The deployment of these advanced scanners solidifies the airport’s commitment to modern security standards within the region.
