A driver was apprehended today after being recorded operating a vehicle at an excessive speed on the Gostivar–Tetovë road. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, the incident took place near Bogovina around 6:00 PM. Officials from the Mobile Security Unit in Communications detected the violation while conducting routine checks using specialized speed control equipment.
The individual involved, identified as K.B., a 47-year-old resident of Tetovo, was driving a Skoda vehicle bearing Tetovo license plates. Authorities confirmed that the driver was traveling at a speed of 177 kilometers per hour, significantly exceeding the posted maximum limit of 80 km/h for that section of the roadway. Following the detection of the infraction, the driver was detained by law enforcement.
The Ministry of Interior stated that all necessary legal measures have been implemented regarding the incident. Furthermore, the report indicated that the driver will face criminal proceedings under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code of North Macedonia related to the dangerous driving. The Ministry emphasized that these actions underscore the ongoing commitment to public safety, confirming that traffic controls will remain active.
