Besnik Osmani resigns from the LDK branch in Kosovo

Besnik Osmani has formally resigned from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) branch operating in Fushë Kosovë. The resignation was confirmed by Ali Topalli, an LDK assemblyman serving on the Municipal Council of Fushë Kosovë. The departure of Osmani comes after the LDK faced significant setbacks in the local elections held late last year, where the party’s stronghold of Fushë Kosovë was lost.

Speaking on the matter, Topalli acknowledged Osmani’s resignation, linking the decision to the party’s performance in the recent parliamentary elections on April 7, 2026. According to Topalli, the impetus for the change is rooted in the need for internal restructuring and revitalization within the LDK. Topalli stated, “It is true that Mr.

Osmani has resigned. The reasons are the poor electoral results for the LDK and the need for general elections within the LDK.”

The confirmation by a prominent local figure like Topalli signals a notable development within the party structure. Osmani had previously been positioned as the LDK’s candidate for the Mayor of Fushë Kosovë during the last municipal contest.

His resignation, therefore, represents a tangible shift following the party’s disappointing electoral outcomes, prompting calls for broader internal reforms within the LDK framework.
