Ford recalls over 770,000 vehicles due to technical defects

Ford has issued two significant recalls affecting approximately 770,000 trucks and SUVs. The most extensive recall involves a defect in the vehicle’s transmission, impacting 741,195 units. The affected models include the 2021 Ford F-150, 2020-2021 Lincoln Aviator, 2020-2021 Ford Explorer, 2018-2021 Lincoln Navigator, and 2018-2021 Ford Expedition.

The issue centers on a condition where the vehicle’s transmission may erroneously activate the parking button while the vehicle is still moving. If this malfunction occurs, it can potentially damage the transmission’s parking components. This damage, in turn, could impair the transmission’s ability to maintain the vehicle’s stationary position, leading to the possibility of the vehicle rolling.

Ford has reported its awareness of multiple incidents related to this defect. The company has noted 24 instances of material damage, 7 reports of physical injury, and two additional reports concerning [text incomplete].
