The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, attended the formal ceremony announcing the 643 recipients of the Grant Scheme for Investments – LOT 1. This initiative is structured as part of a broader project designed to promote the sustainable development of the agricultural sector within Kosovo’s rural areas. The program is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development and the German development agency, GIZ.
During the event, Mr. Kurti highlighted the significance of the development for the nation’s agricultural and rural economy. He emphasized that the sector remains a fundamental pillar supporting both economic growth and national food security.
The grant scheme was established to support local producers and entrepreneurs. According to reports, more than 1,200 farmers and rural entrepreneurs submitted applications for the program. Following a competitive selection process, 643 beneficiaries were ultimately selected.
These recipients are distributed across different tranches of the scheme: 556 beneficiaries were selected under LOT one, 65 under LOT two, and 22 under LOT three. This investment support aims to modernize practices and bolster livelihoods across the rural landscape. The focus on improving agricultural infrastructure and supporting local enterprise underscores the government’s commitment to revitalizing the agricultural backbone of the region through international partnerships like the one established with GIZ.
