Chairi Municipality: The commission for assessing storm damage was formed in May by decision of the Municipal Council

The Municipality of Çairi issued a formal response addressing recent statements made by opposition councilors concerning the aftermath of heavy rainfall. The municipality refuted claims suggesting the absence of an official body responsible for documenting and evaluating damages. According to the Municipality, the necessary structure is already in place.

Specifically, the Commission for Assessing and Determining the Level of Damages from Natural and Other Disasters was officially established by a decision of the Municipal Council back in May, ensuring compliance with existing regional legislation. The Municipality emphasized that its operational strategy is preventative rather than reactive. A representative stated that the governing body does not wait for natural events to occur before acting, but rather builds institutional mechanisms in advance to guarantee readiness and facilitate a rapid response when needed.

In light of the recent adverse weather, the municipality confirmed that immediate action was taken. Following the heavy rainfall, various municipal teams, the Crisis Staff, public enterprises, and relevant competent institutions were swiftly deployed to the affected areas. These groups began immediate efforts related to the assessment and recovery process.

The established commission is central to this effort, tasked with systematically assessing the scope and nature of the damages incurred across the municipality. This proactive deployment demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to comprehensive damage assessment and subsequent recovery efforts.
