Official: Slaven Bilic is the new coach of Croatia

Slaven Bilić has been appointed as the new head coach of the Croatian national football team by the Croatian Football Federation (HNS). Bilić was considered a leading candidate for the role following the departure of Zlatko Dalić. This marks Bilić’s return to manage the national team, following a two-year period since he left his role at Al Fateh in Saudi Arabia.

This appointment signifies Bilić’s second tenure leading the Croatian team. During his initial period as manager, Bilić guided Croatia through two major tournaments, including the UEFA Euro 2008. At that time, the team reached the quarter-finals.

A notable achievement during the qualifiers for that European Championship was Croatia’s victories against England. Furthermore, Bilić’s management during his first stint is credited with laying the groundwork for a generation of footballers who would later achieve international medals. The HNS has officially named Slaven Bilić as the new manager.

His return is anticipated to guide the national squad as they prepare for upcoming fixtures. The appointment concludes the search for a coach following the vacancy left by the previous manager.
