Ivanovski: Filipçe is an excellent surgeon, but as head of the LSDM, he has not shown success

University professor and former high official of the Social Democratic League of Macedonia (LSDM), Igor Ivanovski, clarified the distinction between the party and its leader, Venko Filipçe, during a closed-door meeting on Wednesday titled “Conversation for the Future.” Ivanovski emphasized the necessity for a substantive and objective debate among the country’s progressive democratic public. Speaking about the meeting’s context, Ivanovski cited the current political climate as the impetus for the gathering. He characterized the situation as presenting a dichotomy: a government that he deemed strong and justifiable, juxtaposed against an opposition that, in his view, struggles to articulate the growing atmosphere of dissent within the nation.

During the discussion, Ivanovski addressed the party’s leadership, specifically mentioning its current head, Filipçe, whom he stated he has known since his youth. The dialogue underscored a call for reasoned discourse within the Macedonian political landscape. The event, moderated by Ivanovski, aimed to facilitate a necessary dialogue.

His comments suggested that the path forward for the country required moving beyond polarized rhetoric to engage in deeper, more balanced political discussions. The focus remained on fostering an environment where the progressive democratic ideals of the nation could be debated openly and factually.
