Results Certification, KQZ Awaiting Supreme Court

The Central Election Commission (KQZ) is currently awaiting rulings from the Supreme Court concerning complaints lodged against the final outcomes of the parliamentary elections held on April 7. According to Valmir Elezi, a spokesperson for the KQZ, the official certification of the election results is contingent upon the content of the Supreme Court’s decisions. Elezi clarified the procedural steps, stating that if the court’s decisions do not impose any specific obligations upon the KQZ, the certification process can move forward.

However, he noted that should the decisions mandate actions from the Commission, those obligations must be fully implemented before the certification of the results can proceed. This statement follows the KQZ’s announcement of the preliminary final results on April 27, 2026. At that time, the published data indicated that the Vetëvendosje Movement secured 47.13 percent of the total votes cast.

The Commission’s current focus remains on adhering to the judicial process. The pending decisions from the Supreme Court represent the final administrative hurdle before the election results are officially certified. The KQZ has indicated that its next steps are directly guided by the rulings issued by the highest court, emphasizing procedural compliance over immediate finalization.

This waiting period underscores the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that all legal challenges regarding the election results are thoroughly addressed before formal closure.
