Students from the University of Pisa in Italy have achieved a Guinness World Record after constructing the planet’s largest paper airplane. The team, operating under the name Project Icarus, engineered the massive aircraft using only paper and adhesive, receiving support from known engineering influencer Jakidale. According to reports, the resulting paper airplane measured an impressive wingspan of 20.04 meters and had an approximate length of 7 meters.
The creation was unveiled during the We Make Future fair, held at the BolognaFiere center in Bologna. During its official presentation, the structure successfully flew a distance of 59 meters, securing the new world record for the largest paper airplane. This achievement surpasses the previous record, which was established in 2013 by the Braunschweig Institute of Technology in Germany.
The construction demonstrates significant engineering skill among the participating students. The use of paper to achieve such a large and functional flying object marks a notable accomplishment in amateur engineering.
