For the first time at QKUK, neurosurgical operations are successfully performed using neuroendoscopy techniques.

The Neurosurgery Clinic at the Kosovo University Clinical Center (QKUK) achieved a notable milestone by performing neurosurgical operations utilizing neuroendoscopy for the first time. This development represents a significant advancement in the provision of medical services within the country. According to an announcement from QKUK, the advanced procedures were conducted on April 6th and 7th.

The operations were executed through a collaboration with Dr. Gousias Konstantinos, a neurosurgeon from Germany, who directed the procedures alongside the dedicated team at the Neurosurgery Clinic. During this specialized visit, the team successfully completed two complex surgeries.

The first involved the removal of a pituitary tumor using the neuroendoscopic approach. Subsequently, a second procedure was carried out to address a third ventricular brain tumor, also employing the advanced neuroendoscopic technique. Furthermore, both of these intricate interventions benefited from the use of a neuronavigator, a state-of-the-art piece of equipment housed at the Clinic.

This successful implementation of neuroendoscopy marks a substantial enhancement in the capabilities of the QKUK’s neurosurgical department, allowing for minimally invasive and precise treatment of complex neurological conditions.
