Three people arrested in Tirana for illegal weapons possession and breach of public safety

Police authorities conducted two separate operations, codenamed “Shenja” and “Kodra,” aimed at combating the illegal trafficking of weaponry and the possession of arms intended for sale. During these coordinated efforts, law enforcement personnel detained three people and seized three firearms, alongside hundreds of rounds of ammunition. All evidence collected has been formally submitted to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for subsequent legal proceedings.

The initial operation, “Shenja,” was executed by the Special Forces unit “Shqiponja,” in collaboration with Crime Investigation specialists from Police Precinct No. 4. According to police reports, the operation commenced when a vehicle was stopped on Dibrë Street.

This action led to the arrest of two men: Shendi Sata, aged 31, and Shemsi Shaljani, aged 43. During the subsequent search of the individuals, authorities discovered a pistol loaded with ammunition on Sata. Further investigations into the premises continued.

The successful execution of these joint operations underscores the ongoing efforts to secure the region against illicit weaponry. The seizure of multiple weapons and ammunition demonstrates the scale of the illegal network targeted. The handover of the materials and the detained individuals to the prosecutor’s office confirms that the case will proceed through the formal judicial channels.

The combined results of these actions represent a significant measure against organized crime in the capital.
