RTK workers still unpaid, Union addresses Haxhiu and Kurti – warns of escalation of actions

The Trade Union Federation of Kosovo has formally addressed the acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, and the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, via a public letter. The communication demands immediate intervention to ensure the payment of outstanding salaries owed to employees of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK). According to the federation, as of April 9, 2026, the salaries for the rtk workforce have not been disbursed.

The union characterized this non-payment as a breach of the fundamental right to labor and a violation of the dignity of the workers. The federation noted that the current salary delay is not an isolated incident. They referenced previous actions, recalling that the union had previously organized protests concerning similar wage arrears just last month.

The Trade Union Federation stated that it considers it untenable for a major public broadcaster to maintain operations when its staff remain without pay. The central focus of the appeal remains the urgent resolution of the payroll issue. The union emphasized that the sustained delay impacts the financial stability and well-being of numerous employees.

By issuing this formal public letter, the federation sought to compel the relevant government authorities to intervene decisively to guarantee that all workers receive their due compensation without further postponement.
