Unauthorized works continue within the Historic Center of Prizren

The Regional Center for Cultural Heritage (QRTK) in Prizren has issued a statement regarding unauthorized interventions occurring at a hotel property within the city. According to reports from Ec Ma Ndryshe, the ongoing construction and restoration works are proceeding without the necessary approvals from competent institutional bodies. In an official announcement, QRTK-Prizren confirmed that the current activities lack the prerequisite consent from the center’s heritage authority.

Consequently, the QRTK has formally notified both the Directorate of the Prizren Municipality Inspectorate and the Kosovo Heritage Inspectorate, which operates under the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport (MKRS). These bodies have been alerted to initiate preliminary measures in accordance with existing legislation. The location of the property in question is significant, as it is situated within the legally protected Historic Center of Prizren.

Regulations mandate that any form of construction or restoration intervention within this designated area must receive explicit prior authorization. The failure to secure this consent for the current works has prompted the cultural heritage authorities to intervene. The directive aims to ensure that all development within this historically sensitive district adheres strictly to established cultural preservation laws, safeguarding the integrity of the prizren center.
