Albania presents data, Albania is the first with an increase in air traffic in the Balkans

Albania has reported an increase in passenger air traffic for May 2026 when compared to the figures from May 2025. According to published statistics detailing the performance of various states in air transport, the nation recorded a 26% rise in passenger movement. The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, shared a comparative table on social media, noting the sector’s progress.

Rama’s assessment highlighted the significant growth in the country’s air transport sector. In the comparative data, Albania’s 26% increase placed it after Slovakia, which registered a 112.8% increase, and North Macedonia, which saw a 27.4% rise. Other nations reported varying levels of growth; Montenegro showed a 17.8% increase, followed by Malta at 16.5%, Uzbekistan at 16.2%, and Estonia at 13.1%.

The data indicates that while many nations experienced growth, some European countries reported a decline in their respective air traffic during the same period. This overall picture suggests a notable upward trend in passenger activity within Albania’s air sector. The figures provide a quantitative measure of the recent expansion in air travel within the country.
