Police authorities detained a driver and confiscated his vehicle following a high-speed violation on the Tetovë-Gostivar road. The incident occurred on April 12, at approximately 7:35 PM, in the area immediately preceding the Vrapçisht intersection. Personnel from the Mobile Traffic Safety Unit, operating near the Traffic Work Sector within the MPB, utilized specialized equipment designed for monitoring traffic infractions.
During the monitoring process, officers recorded a specific vehicle traveling at a speed of 179 km/h. This measurement was taken in a section of the main road where the legally established speed limit is set at 80 km/h. Following the measurement, and acting under the directive of the public prosecutor, authorities took immediate action.
The driver, identified as L.M., aged 27 and a resident of Tetova, was detained at the scene. Furthermore, the vehicle—a Mercedes brand car bearing Tetova license plates—was confiscated. The incident highlights ongoing enforcement efforts aimed at ensuring adherence to posted speed limits across key transportation corridors, particularly on the busy Tetovë-Gostivar road connecting the two localities.
Authorities emphasized that such measures are implemented to enhance public safety and reduce risks associated with excessive speed on the roadway.
