Besjan Rexhepi, Chairman of the Student Parliament at the University of Southeast Europe, addressed the recent appointment of Jeton Shasivari as the Minister of Justice. Rexhepi specifically called for a resolution regarding the development of the Jurisprudence examination in the Albanian language. In his statement, Rexhepi cautioned against undue enthusiasm surrounding the appointment of a new minister.
He asserted that the student body measures the value of institutional leaders based on their concrete actions and decisions, rather than on titles or ethnic background. Rexhepi drew a parallel to the tenure of the former minister, Igor Filkov. He recalled instances when students demonstrated their concerns by organizing protests outside the Ministry of Justice.
These demonstrations were aimed at pressuring authorities into initiating dialogue and guaranteeing the right to take the Jurisprudence exam in Albanian. According to the Chairman, the demands put forth by the students during those periods were not adequately addressed. Rexhepi’s remarks underscore a persistent concern among the student community regarding educational rights and institutional responsiveness.
The focus, therefore, remains on tangible policy changes rather than ceremonial changes in leadership.
