Rama reacts again: We will not become “hysterical” over every foolishness from Belgrade

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama addressed the controversy ignited by statements from Snezhana Paunović regarding the “ethnic cleansing” of Kosovo. In his response, Rama defended the current approach of the Albanian government while cautioning against constant political reactions. Rama asserted that it is unnecessary for every institution or public figure to respond to every statement originating from Belgrade.

In a public statement, Rama noted that the government has already taken appropriate action through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, characterizing this as the standard response of a self-respecting state. He criticized those who expect continuous reactions from Tirana whenever rhetoric emerges from Belgrade concerning division. Regarding Paunović’s comments, Rama stated that the individual did not retract the statements described as fascist.

Furthermore, he pointed out that Paunović reportedly apologized to Vučić, rather than to the Albanian people of Kosovo. Rama also criticized those who, in his view, demand a perpetual cycle of reactions from the capital. The Prime Minister emphasized that such constant responses are unwarranted, particularly in response to every pronouncement made by Belgrade.
