The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has announced a temporary restriction on goods transport vehicles operating on Kosovo’s highways this Friday. The measure is being implemented due to forecasted high temperatures. The ministry stated that the current official temperature forecast meets the criteria necessary for enacting this circulation limitation.
The restriction will specifically affect vehicles with a total weight exceeding 20 tons and will be in effect on the highways between 11:00 AM and 5:30 PM. This timing corresponds with the period when temperatures are anticipated to reach 32 degrees Celsius or higher. Conversely, the ministry clarified that no circulation restrictions will be imposed on national, regional, or connecting roads.
This exclusion is because the conditions specified in the decision for restricting movement have not been met for those types of roads. The directive aims to manage traffic flow and safety given the extreme heat conditions anticipated across the region. Travelers and commercial operators are advised to adhere strictly to the designated weight and time restrictions for goods transport vehicles on Kosovo’s main highways.
The Ministry of Infrastructure confirmed these operational guidelines.
