Ukrainians destroy a $26 million strategic bomber in the heart of Russia

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported conducting a long-range drone attack targeting a Russian airbase located in the Saratov region, a distance of hundreds of kilometers from the Ukrainian border. According to the SBU’s statement, the Ukrainian drones traveled approximately 800 kilometers to reach their objective, resulting in critical damage to a Tu-95 strategic bomber. The official announcement specified that the rear section of the aircraft sustained severe damage.

The Tu-95 is identified as one of Russia’s primary strategic aircraft assets. These bombers have been utilized during the conflict in Ukraine for launching long-range missiles against Ukrainian urban areas and critical infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commended the operation, describing it as another successful long-range strike aimed at degrading Russian military capacity.

The reported attack underscores Ukraine’s capability to project force deep into Russian territory.
