Klekovski: Gostivar citizens cooperate with health authorities for epidemiological surveys

The Minister of Health, Sasho Klekovski, announced that Gostivar will not be declared under an epidemic situation until the underlying cause of the gastrointestinal illnesses affecting residents has been definitively identified. According to the Minister, the relevant health authorities require comprehensive data gathered through ongoing epidemiological surveys to pinpoint the source of the infection. Klekovski emphasized the necessity of public cooperation, urging all citizens to assist the epidemiological teams, as the input from affected patients is vital for establishing the cause.

He detailed the scope of the investigation, noting that it has involved multiple institutions and is developing various analyses to eliminate all potential sources. These analyses cover a broad spectrum, ranging from heavy metal contamination and parasitic infections to viral and bacterial pathogens. Currently, the epidemiological surveys have encompassed data from 19 citizens.

The Minister reiterated his appeal to the general populace to respond positively and fully cooperate with these efforts. This collective participation is crucial for the comprehensive assessment required by the health sector. The continued focus on data collection and rigorous testing is intended to ensure that a precise determination regarding the nature of the gastrointestinal issues can be made, thereby guiding appropriate public health measures.
