The acting Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Dimal Basha, announced the commencement of efforts to establish a lasting resolution to persistent stormwater drainage issues identified at the Mazgit underpass. The intervention was necessary to regulate the atmospheric drainage system and subsequently repair the adjacent road trenches, which had previously obstructed normal vehicle circulation. As part of the remediation process, the KRU “Prishtina” was deployed to the site to assist with cleaning the drainage canals.
During the assessment phase, it was determined that a primary contributing factor to the ongoing problem was the disconnection between the atmospheric canal and the main collector system. Following this technical finding, the private economic operator responsible for the road repair voluntarily initiated work to establish the necessary connection between the atmospheric canal and the collector. This proactive measure is crucial for ensuring the proper flow of stormwater runoff.
The comprehensive work aims not only to repair the physical damage to the road infrastructure but also to correct the underlying drainage flaw, thereby preventing future disruptions to traffic flow at the critical underpass location. The continuation of these repairs is expected to restore full functionality and safety to the area.
